Cat of the Week: Lucy
Lucy is a tiny bundle of joy and sweetness. At about 8 months, Lucy came to Andy's Friends as a young mommy looking for help for her babies. Now she is about a year old, all five of them were adopted, and it is Lucy's turn to find a home where she will be loved and pampered. Petite and neat with fun markings too, Lucy is an affectionate girl who enjoys lots of pets and love. She adores people and will let you hold her, but she takes a little more time to open her world to other cats. Lucy would do fine in a home with another kitty, as long as they are introduced correctly. If you might be interested in Lucy, please fill out an adoption application !

Stories from Andy's Alumni Roscoe!
Roscoe's new family has shared with us that he is loving his new home !
"He sleeps on the bed all night, curled up close to me and actually on a pillow sometimes.
One of the pictures I am sending is taken from outside, because Roscoe is usually sitting in the window when I come home. He has a great view of the neighborhood and all the squirrels and birds and an occasional fox, all from the safety of being behind glass."

Q: Dear Andy, I love my cat, but I also love my new couch! How can I keep my kitty from scratching the furniture?
A: There are lots of things you can do to discourage scratching of furniture. You may need to try a few, because every cat responds a little bit differently! Try some of these ideas from Jackson Galaxy, and watch the video below!
1. Make sure you have scratching posts! Yes POSTS! Cats can scratch vertically, horizontally, or on an angle. Your cat may like your couch because it is providing one of these types of scratching.
2. Discourage scratching on the furniture by tightly covering the culprit spots with a sheet, foil, tape, etc. Eventually, when presented with other more fun options, your kitty will forget about their favorite spot.
3. Use a natural citrus spray on your furniture. Cats have an aversion to citrus.
4. Keep your cats nails trimmed. Cats nails should be cut about every 2-3 weeks.
